EDO SET TO COMMEMORATE WORLD THEATRE DAY

The Edo State Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism and Edo State Council for Arts and Culture in collaboration with National Association of Nigerian Theatre Art Practitioners (NANTAP) will next week Wednesday 27th March, 2024 celebrate this year’s World Theatre Day.

The World Theatre Day with the theme: THEATRE: A CULTURE OF PEACE is a day set aside by the International Theatre Institute and the International Community to draw public attention on the need to embrace and appreciate theatrical performances. Edo State Arts, Culture Tourism Commissioner, Hon. Uyi Oduwa Malaka disclosed in a statement that the International Theatre Day aims to create awareness on the importance of theatrical arts, how theatrical performances have played in the area of entertainment and the improvement theatre has made over the years.

Activities lined up for The World Theatre Day celebration which include dance, drama, poetry, songs, will take place at the prestigious Sir. Victor Uwaifo Creative and Soundstage on Airport Road, Benin City, on Wednesday 27th March, 2027 at 9am and will attract Theatre practitioners and competition by secondary school pupils in theatrical presentations.
