NAIRA ABUSE: Court Grants Bail to Cubana Chief Priest for Alleged Naira Abuse and He Has Been Given Seven Days to Perfect his Bail.

A businessman and socialist, Pascal Okechukwu commonly known as cubana chief priest,On Wednesday 17th of April, 2024, was brought to court before Justice Kehinde Ogundare and charged with abuse of naira on three counts by spraying and tampering with national’s currency at social event, opposed to the provision of central bank act of 2007.

He was also reported to have tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 notes issued by the CBN by spraying the same for two hours.

EFCC through it’s counsel Bilikisu Buhari informed the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on February 13, 2024, also in 2020, during a social event in Lagos, and It added that in January 2024, in Lagos State, during a social event, thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007”.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, and his counsel, Mr Chikaosolu Ojukwu, SAN, asked the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms the prosecution did not oppose the bail application and the defendant was given seven days to perfect his bail, failure to perfect the bail conditions, the defendant would be remanded at the prison.
