It was à mini carnival in London as Urhobo Progress Union Women Wing celebrate in a unique way, with an Owho/Oghwo cooking contest. The event which was put together by the Lady Vice-President of Urhobo Progress Union (UK), Chief Onome Efebeh-Oboroh and her EXCO, took place at 803 Old Kent Road, Southeast London, on the 13th of November 2023.
The President of Urhobo Progress Union (UK) Chief Ejiro Ughwujabor and his Exco were among those present and they also served as juries.
Chief Ejiro commended the Urhobo mothers, sisters and daughters present and those who took part in the contest and stressed the uniqueness of the Owho, as it is used in Urhobo Marriages, Burials and all major Urhobo events.
Chief Onome Efebeh-Oboroh outline the ingredients of the delicacies and urge all Urhobo people especially women to learn how to prepare this unique food associated with Urhobo culture.
Chief Onome Efebeh-Oboroh in her closing remark noted that this is going to be a yearly gala and that we should expect something bigger next year
