DTHA Recalls Two Suspended Members, Hon. Chukwudi Dafe And Hon. Oboro Preyo After 14 Legislative Days Expires.

The State House of Assembly has recalled the two suspended members after the expiration of the 14 legislative days suspension placed on them by the House over alleged gross misconduct.

The Speaker Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor lifted the suspension placed on Hon. Chukwudi Dafe member representing Ukwani State constituency and Hon. Oboro Preyo member representing Bomadi State constituency at Tuesday’s 17th December plenary.

Rt. Hon.Guwor said the investigative committee which was set up to look into the allegations of gross misconduct leveled on the lawmakers was yet to submit its report, the legislators were recalled following the expiration of the 14 legislative days.

The House at plenary gave leave to the Majority Leader Hon. Engr. Emeka Nwaobi to bring in a Bill for a law to provide for the Establishment of the Delta State Food Security Agency.

Hon. Nwaobi then moved a motion for the Bill to be read the first time and was seconded by the member representing Oshimili South constituency Hon. Bridget Anyafulu. The second reading of the Bill was then deferred to Tuesday January 28, 2025.

The House also granted leave to the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo to bring a Bill for a law to Repeal the Delta State Waste Management Board Law of 2008, and enact the Establishment of the Delta State Waste Management Board, and to Maintain a system of Effective Waste Collection, Management and Disposal in the state.
The motion of the Bill was seconded by member representing Ughelli North 1 constituency Hon. Mathew Omonade.
The second reading of the Bill was deferred to Tuesday January 28, 2025.

The House thereafter adjourned plenary to Tuesday 14th January, 2025.
