The State House Of Assembly Has Approved Governor Sheriff Oborevwori Request For Implementation Of A New Tariff Regime For The Asaba Independent Power Plant.

The State House of Assembly today approved Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s request for review and implementation of a new tariff regime for the Asaba Independent Power Plant (IPP). The lawmakers granted the request at plenary after considering the letter sent by Governor Oborevwori.

Also at plenary today the House lifted its suspension on the member representing Ughelli North 1 constituency Hon. Mathew Omonade.  Governor Oborevwori said in the letter he sent to the House that the government upward review was due to current economic realities. Adding that the review will enable the IPP sustain its Services to the state ministries departments and agencies MDAs as well as to other facilities in Asaba metropolis.

On the need for an approval the Majority leader Hon. Emeka Nwaobi alongside other lawmakers who aligned with the governor attributed the upward review to the harsh economic realities. The requested approval enjoined unanimous support through a voice vote put through by the Speaker Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor.  Still at plenary the House adhoc Committee that investigated the suspension of the member representing Ughelli North 1 constituency Hon.  Mathew Omonade led by the Majority leader submitted its report.

The adhoc Committee recommended that Hon. Omonade be warned against further occurrence and he be recommended to carefully study the House Rules after the suspension placed on him be lifted as he resumes plenary and other legislative activities of the house. The recommendations also enjoined unanimous support from lawmakers.  Congratulating lawmakers for the successful celebration of the 8 Assembly one year anniversary, Hon. Guwor thanked Governor Oborevwori for attending the thanksgiving service of the 8 Assembly and for the unveiling of the legislative 8 agenda.

He described the relationship between the legislative and the executive arms of government as second to none. The Speaker also thanked the lawmakers, the Assembly management as well as the constituents for their support.
