Former Edo State representative on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and Governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Hon. Saturday Uwuelekhue has stepped down his ambition and endorsed a leading aspirant and member representing Ovia federal constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa. Uwuelekhue
He made this decision known during an enlarge meeting during an enlarge meeting of ward leaders in Iyoba ward four in Orinhomwon local government area. Uwuelekhue who said he is stepping down for the unity of the party noted that everyone in the party must work together to achieve success in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
He expressed total support for the candidacy of Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa as he believes that he has what it takes to take Edo state to a higher level. He said “As it stands today in Edo south, Dennis stands very tall among all other aspirants because he met all the requirements.
He won his unit, ward, state constituency and he is even the serving member of the House of Representatives, representing the good people of Ovia federal constituency, so that is why he was singled out. Not that anyone was imposed on anybody “Nobody is imposing anybody on us, we all agreed on criteria and that criteria was handed over to the committee and they came out with a result”
He urged his people to dispel the rumour that someone in Abuja is imposing Dennis Idahosa on them as He (Idahosa) is the only qualified aspirant in Edo south senatorial district haven met the conditions of the advisory committee.
“I am appealing to my ward, for us to look towards that direction, we cannot continue to encourage mediocracy and when finally all is arrived at, we will also come back to brief the ward. Hon. Saturday Uwuelekhue is a grassroot politician who once served as a commissioner under the administration of former Governor Adams Oshiomhole and a former chairman, Orinhomwon local government council, same local government with former APC governorship candidate and a current aspirant, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
